The expansion will help support the company's future growth and reflects its belief in the local talent pool, according to Chief Executive Officer Will Ahmed. The additional space can accommodate 1,000 employees. The lease hasn't yet been finalized. Whoop is growing rapidly following a March fundraising round that valued the company at $10.1 billion. It plans to hire 600 people this year, a roughly 75% boost to its headcount, as it works to further integrate AI into its health and wellness monitoring tools and to expand internationally. Whoop is on track for an IPO in roughly 18 months, Ahmed said in an interview at Bloomberg's Boston office on Tuesday, in line with the timetable he's previously shared. Whoop is one of the largest office tenants in Kenmore Square, an area that's also adjacent to Boston University and several of the city's research hospitals that has seen significant development over the past decade. If finalized, the lease would be one of the largest in Boston's office market to be signed this year. Having a Boston headquarters gives the company an advantage in employee retention versus startups based in New York or San Francisco, Ahmed said. \"Boston's been underrated in regards to a lot of what it can provide an up and coming company,\" he said. The city breeds \"missionaries\" who stick with an employer because they believe in its mission, a contrast to the mercenary mindset of many in Silicon Valley, he said. \"The folks that get a little caught up in the hype cycle of a tech company, or get too caught in the valuation speak or what's en vogue, they are less likely to stick it out through some of the more challenging periods,\" Ahmed said. Whoop is one of the leaders of the Massachusetts AI Coalition, a group of companies and investment firms organized this year that's seeking to stem the westward migration of startup founders educated at the state's elite universities like Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Of the 20 most valuable venture-backed US AI companies as of this spring, none are headquartered in Massachusetts, even though half had co-founders who attended MIT or Harvard. Story Continues \"It's hard to know at an early stage if a company is great, but you want to create an environment where they can continue to flourish,\" Ahmed said, pointing to the importance of access to office space, capital and networking. \"People are waking up around here being like, 'We've got to do a little bit more. We're taking for granted that we have such great talent here.'\" Of the nearly 400 people Whoop has hired so far this year, more than 70% are for Boston-based roles. That includes new C-level hires like Chief Marketing Officer Dirk-Jan \"DJ\" van Hameren, a former Nike Inc. executive who relocated from that company's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. The company requires its Boston employees to work from the office at least four days a week, Ahmed said. Boston's Fenway neighborhood, where Whoop is based, had the highest office vacancy of any neighborhood in the city as of the end of the second quarter at 29.2%, according to CBRE Group Inc. data. The citywide vacancy rate was 18.7%. \"CEOs have to play a role\" in revitalizing downtowns, he said. FIGS is pairing faster growth with improving profitability, international expansion and stronger customer engagement. Second-quarter 2026 results extended a recovery that now looks broader than a product-launch bounce. The question for investors is whether that operating progress is enough to justify a valuation that remains well above key benchmarks. FIGS Growth Profile Is Becoming More Durable Second-quarter net revenues rose 28.8% year over year to $196.6 million, marking a third straight quarter of more than 25% growth. Active customers increased 13.2% to 3.1 million, while average order value climbed 8.5% to $127. The gains were spread across products, geographies and ordinary selling days without specific brand activations. Net revenues per active customer reached a record $229, up 10.1%, suggesting that customer acquisition, repeat purchasing and higher spending are contributing together rather than relying on one launch cycle. FIGS Has Multiple Paths Beyond Core Scrubs Non-scrubwear revenues advanced 40.3% to $35.4 million and represented 18% of quarterly revenues. International revenues increased 67% to $37.9 million, while TEAMS and Community Hubs also delivered record results, broadening FIGS beyond its core scrubwear business. International is positioned as a major multiyear growth vector, supported by expansion across more than 80 countries outside the United States and less than 1% global market share. Adjacent categories, institutional sales and retail hubs can also raise share of wallet and deepen customer access. FIGS Profitability Is Improving With Scale Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 18.6% from 12.9% a year earlier. Management raised its full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin outlook to 14.8%-15%, alongside an approximately 20% net revenue growth forecast. The improvement reflects higher full-price selling, lower return rates, digital customer-acquisition efficiencies and operating leverage. Those gains matter because they show FIGS can invest in growth while converting stronger demand into better profitability, even as some tariff-related benefits affect reported comparisons. FIGS Premium Valuation Leaves Less Room for Error Shares have gained about 25% over the past three months. The increase reflects improving investor confidence following stronger operating results, but it has also contributed to the stock's elevated valuation.Zacks Investment Research Image Source: Zacks Investment Research FIGS trades at 46.35X forward 12-month earnings, well above 15.28X for its industry. That premium raises the execution bar as management expects growth to moderate to about 20% in the third quarter and 10% in the fourth quarter. Story Continues Zacks Investment Research Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The broader apparel backdrop also argues for valuation discipline. lululemon athletica Inc. LULU reported 4% first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue growth but reduced its full-year outlook to roughly flat. NIKE, Inc. NKE reported flat fiscal 2026 revenues, with NIKE Direct revenues down 6%. For FIGS, continued marketing investment, an 82% scrubwear revenue mix and supply-chain disruption tied to its Jordan sourcing partner add risks if growth slows. FIGS Buy Signal Clashes With Weak Value Scores FIGS currently carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), which points to favorable near-term earnings-estimate momentum. The stock also has a Momentum Score of A, supporting the case that recent price and estimate trends remain constructive. You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here. The other Style Scores are less supportive. FIGS has a Growth Score of D, Value Score of F and VGM Score of F. The company is positioning Wembanyama as a central figure in its push toward the NBA's next generation of stars. This move adds a fresh angle to Nike's basketball marketing approach as it manages challenges in markets such as China. This kind of focus on emerging athletes is not unique to Nike. It can be useful to look across a broader group of companies shaped by strong leadership through 19 top founder-led companiesNYSE:NKE 1-Year Stock Price Chart NIKE now trades at about $41.7 a share, with the stock down 2.2% over the past week and 6.0% over the past month. The share price has also declined over longer periods, including year to date and across the past 1, 3 and 5 years. In that context, investors watching the Wembanyama partnership may be assessing how it fits into NIKE's broader basketball and brand ambitions. Does the team leading NIKE have what it takes? See our full breakdown of the management team's track record and compensation. Nike's Wembanyama bet as a test of its sport-led leadership story Nike's Narrative is built on a shift back to sport performance, stronger brand storytelling and tighter control of where and how its products show up. The Wembanyama investment plugs directly into that story by tying leadership decisions to a new performance-led flagship. Nike's investment in demand creation and brand storytelling, including high-impact marketing campaigns around major sports events, aims to reignite brand momentum... Read the full NIKE narrative to see the case behind these numbers This partnership leans into the sport-led offense that Nike's leadership has been talking about. Elevating Victor Wembanyama as a central figure gives executives a fresh performance anchor as they reset away from aging lifestyle lines and manage pressure in regions such as Greater China. For the turnaround narrative, this move supports the catalyst around demand creation and full-price performance product, rather than discount-driven sales. It does not resolve concerns that analysts have raised on digital channel resets or inventory cleanup, but it gives leadership a clear story to rally product, marketing and wholesale partners around, in contrast to competitors like Adidas or Under Armour that also court emerging stars. The open question is whether this athlete-centric push can offset risks such as weaker digital traffic and regional revenue softness that the Narrative highlights. There is clear intent from management to keep basketball at the center of Nike's next phase, yet the financial impact still depends on execution across channels and geographies, not just one signature line. NKE is enhancing its global logistics and supply-chain operations to improve the speed and efficiency of product distribution across international markets. The company is optimizing inventory positioning, distribution capabilities and demand forecasting to better match product availability with regional consumer demand. The company is working to optimize the movement of products from manufacturing locations to distribution centers, retail stores and consumers, enabling it to respond more quickly to changing demand across different regions. Such efforts are helping NIKE reduce excess inventory, improve product availability and strengthen its ability to respond to the changing market trends. NIKE has taken steps to simplify and accelerate its supply chain, including reducing the number of facilities, adjusting its workforce and changing how products move from factories to retail. The company is tightening buys, reducing future sell-in and adjusting order books based on weekly sell-through trends. This is intended to prevent excess inventory and create a healthier, more full-price business. Management expects these actions to improve margins in fiscal 2027. NIKE's logistics improvements appear to be working operationally, particularly through better inventory control, lower discounting and more efficient product flows. But the financial payoff is still developing, as international sales remain under pressure. Better inventory planning and product allocation should enable NIKE to place the right products in the markets where demand is strongest, improving product availability while limiting excess inventory and markdowns. Analyst Ike Boruchow said that while near-term trends look \"squishy at best,\" with second-quarter estimates below the Street, \"at current levels we are buyers of the risk/reward\" and firm believers in a multi-year recovery led by Foot Locker, which Dick's acquired. Wells Fargo sees multi-year margin upside at Foot Locker, with a potential return to 7% to 8% margins from 1% to 2%, driven by better allocation and merchandising. It also pointed to execution at the core Dick's business, which it said is \"in the early-innings of building a compelling fly-wheel,\" and views Dick's as \"the best way to play Nike's eventual product turnaround,\" with checks pointing to bullish early reads on spring 2027. Boruchow called the core business \"the New Star of US Sport,\" citing category leadership and House of Sport and Field House remodels earning strong returns. He also flagged GameChanger, paid loyalty and the DICK's Media Network as \"an under-appreciated flywheel.\" On the second quarter, Wells Fargo models weak results, largely due to Foot Locker, with EPS of $3.72 below the Street, but said the go-forward outlook on back-to-school and second-half profit levers will be \"more critical to story than the actual 2Q results.\" The firm raised its price target on the stock to $240 from $220, based on 14 to 15 times 2027 earnings, and sees fiscal 2028 EPS power above $20. Yahoo Finance's AlphaSpace is a premium investment platform that combines data, charting, news, analysis, and more to help retail investors understand markets. Video Transcript 00:00 Jared Under Armor is under pressure following its lackluster outlook and this is a turnaround story. I was looking at the chart and it has done nothing since about the mid of middle of 2022, but what are some of the details? 00:15 Speaker B Yeah, I mean, let's take a look. I actually made a uh chart set here on Alpha space. You could see over here, if you take a look at Under Armor compared to Nike, On-On and Lulu Lemon. We're looking at our interactive now. I know we'll go to Alpha C spoon, soon. What happened there was really this difference between uh how exactly Under Arm has performed. You could see over the past month alone, we have Under Armor down about 10.4%. You have Nike trailing behind that, down 3.3%. But then you have On running and Lululemon outperforming both of those companies. Something to watch there, Tread, because what we did see is that even though Nike is still generally underperforming, it's still outperforming Under Armor. But Under Armor today, the reason why we're seeing the stock, if you take a look at just one day alone, the reason why we're seeing this stock down 8.6% is largely because of the fact that they did uh cut their guidance for 2027. They now expect revenue to decline at mid-single digit percentage rate compared to that previous outlook of a slight decline. So something to watch there. We also have revenue decrease 3%, largely led by what they're seeing here in North America, Jared. 01:34 Jared Yeah, and I mean, this is a Kevin Plank turnaround strategy or story since he came back in 2024. He has cut roughly 25% of product styles. He's reduced promotion, tightened distribution, and he's really tried to push Under Armor towards that premium bucket once again. Um, we'll have to see how it turns out. 01:57 Speaker B I also found it so interesting that footwear revenue for them declined 8%. You have accessories down 4%, apparel down 2%. I mean, this was not just a single area that they didn't see softness. It was really across the board for them. 02:11 Jared Yeah, Kevin Plank is shrinking the company, but how how small is it going to get before you get to that premium bucket?
