Goldman Sachs warns AI investment may be crowding out other business spending
Investing.com -- Goldman Sachs said the surge in artificial intelligence spending may be crowding out other business activity, though it found only limited evidence of that effect so far. In a note to clients, analyst Jessica Rindels estimated AI investment in the U.S. will total almost $600 billion in 2026, "equivalent to nearly 2% of US GDP," and has amounted to over 10% of business fixed investment in recent quarters. Rindels believes the rapid growth raises the question of whether it is displacing other spending, particularly because so much AI outlay goes on imported technology goods. On

Jim Cramer Recommends Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to Profit From Accelerating M&A Deals
During Mad Money's August 6 episode, host Jim Cramer highlighted why investors should target elite advisory firms rather than speculating on acquisition targets, as he said: Here's a big theme that right now really only impacts two large companies: pent-up demand for mergers and acquisitions now that the Biden era of overzealous antitrust enforcement has been replaced by the Trump era of almost non-existent antitrust enforcement. Most companies don't believe this moment can last, so they're taking advantage of it to make deals. When the summer's over, I believe we're going to come back to see

Goldman Sachs Stock Rises After $2.25 Billion ETF Deal
This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS), the Wall Street heavyweight spanning investment banking and asset management, agreed Wednesday to buy NEOS Investments for as much as $2.25 billion. Goldman shares rose approximately 0.7% by late morning, but the bigger story is what the bank is buying: scale in the booming ETF market. NEOS manages roughly $30 billion across 19 ETFs built around systematic options strategies. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, assuming regulators approve the deal and other closing conditions are satisfied. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 6 Warning Signs with GS. Is GS fairly valued? Test your thesis with our free DCF calculator. Goldman isn't spending $2.25 billion just to add another asset manager. It wants more recurring fees. NEOS would push Goldman's active-ETF assets to roughly $80 billion and its total global ETF platform to approximately $130 billion. NEOS also brings income-focused strategies that fit neatly beside Goldman's existing buffer and managed-outcome products. Founders Troy Cates and Garrett Paolella are expected to become Goldman partners, with other NEOS investment and client-service employees joining them. The play is straightforward: add $30 billion of assets, widen the ETF shelf and give Goldman another engine capable of producing fees without depending on the next trading boom or investment-banking cycle.Goldman Sachs Stock Rises After $2.25 Billion ETF Deal·us.finance.gurufocus But Goldman isn't exactly entering this deal with a cheap stock. Shares stood at $1,042.17 on August 12 versus a GF Value estimate of $815.45. That's a 27.8% premium. In other words, investors are already paying up for Goldman, which raises the bar for deals like NEOS. The maximum purchase price equals roughly 7.5% of NEOS's current assets under management, so Goldman now needs those assets to stickand preferably grow. Watch client retention, ETF inflows and fee expansion. If NEOS keeps pulling in money, Goldman gets a larger stream of recurring revenue and less dependence on Wall Street's boom-and-bust businesses. If the flows stall, $2.25 billion starts looking like a very different number. View Comments

How to read the score
It describes the weighted balance of qualifying headlines. A score of 50 can mean balanced news or that there is not enough evidence; the status label explains which.
Confidence measures depth, source breadth, direct relevance, freshness and agreement. It does not rise merely because the tone is extreme.
Weekly price response, trend and fair-value position test whether the market is accepting or rejecting the news. They never rewrite the news score.
It measures news already published. It is not a forecast, recommendation or price target.
