Jim Cramer Says Nvidia GPUs Are ‘More Like Fine Jewelry’ Than Cars. Here Is Why That Matters for NVDA Investors.

Quick Read Jim Cramer argues NVDA GPUs hold value like fine jewelry, backed by 75% gross margins and $81.6B in Q1 FY2027 revenue. Nvidia's CUDA software moat anchors a $500B AI financing stack by ensuring installed GPUs retain collateral value years after newer chips ship. Analysts set a $302 consensus target on NVDA against a $223.80 share price, with the August 26 Q2 report the next test of the residual-value thesis. It sounds nuts, but SoFi1 is giving new Active Invest users up to $3,000 in stock for a limited time, and all it takes is a $50 deposit to get started.2 See for yourself (Sponso

Why Nvidia May Stand in the Way of Wall Street's Plans to Turn AI Compute Into a Commodity

Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. CME Group Inc. (NASDAQ:CME) said Tuesday it will launch AI compute futures on Oct. 5, pending regulatory review, with contracts tracking monthly rental prices for NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) H100 and B200 chips. The exchange wants to turn compute into a "standardized tradable commodity," giving AI labs, hyperscalers and data center operators a way to hedge swings in computing costs. The plan rests on two awkward questions. Is compute uniform enough to trade like a commodity? And can a real marke

Nvidia’s new $500B plan is risky but brilliant, especially for aging GPUs

Nvidia announced this week that Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR were willing to commit up to $500 billion to build AI data centers. That eye-popping figure got a lot of the attention, but the bigger story is Nvidia's effort to create a secondary market for aging GPUs. To convince those big-name financial companies, Nvidia has agreed to guarantee, with its own money, that its chips used as collateral in these deals will retain their value. Many have now commented on how unusual, smart , and dangerous this plan is. It is all of those things. The bond markets got

Nvidia bulls may have a small problem on their hands

If there is any reason to proceed with caution ahead of Nvidia's (NVDA) earnings on Aug. 26, it's that the market is positioned for the company to post great results and for CEO Jensen Huang to sound super bullish on the earnings call. This could indeed create a sell-the-news moment, not unlike what has happened to Cisco (CSCO) stock on Thursday in response to strong quarterly numbers and a robust outlook. The stock had run up 65% in the past six months, with gains holding into the company's earnings on Wednesday evening. "We expect a solid quarter [for Nvidia] with meaningful upside to guidan

AMD (AMD) Buys Taalas: Is AI Inference the Next Battleground With Nvidia?

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) just announced an acquisition that could give major competition to NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) in AI-inference. On August 6, AMD said it has agreed to buy chip startup Taalas as specialized inference chips become a critical area of focus for semiconductor makers. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The company plans to integrate Taalas' technology into its accelerator roadmap and develop system-level solutions combining it with AMD Instinct graphics processing units (GPUs). "AMD is building a full-stack AI platform that gives customers ‌the flexibility to deploy the right compute solutions for every AI workload," Vamsi Boppana, senior vice president of AMD's Artificial Intelligence Group, said in a statement. AMD Expands its AI Inference Arsenal The acquisition strengthens AMD's AI portfolio by offering it differentiated inference performance and efficiency. The move also highlights the rising importance for leading GPU makers to offer integrated systems with several different components and chips rather than standalone processors. The acquisition itself follows a string of smaller inference-focused deals made by AMD. Back in November, the company acquired MK1, an AI software startup specializing in high-speed inference. It also acquired MEXT in June and added FastFlowLM to its artificial intelligence group in July. Together, these moves may strengthen AMD's AI inference capabilities to compete with giants such as Nvidia. Taalas's technology could also offer AMD both speed and lower costs. The company says that the HC1 demonstrator reportedly delivers around 17,000 tokens per second per user when running Llama 3.1 8B. It also claims that its systems can cost 20 times less to build and use 10 times less power because they avoid HBM, advanced packaging, and liquid cooling. AI Inference to Become the Next Nvidia Battleground AMD's latest buying spree follows merely months after NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) struck a $20 billion deal with Groq, a designer of high-performance AI chips, for its inference technology and talent. Nvidia chips have dominated the process of AI model training for quite some time, but its graphics processors face greater competition from central processing units and custom processors. Inference computing, the process of answering queries, occurs every time AI models are used. As AI assistants, coding agents, and similar applications handle billions of queries, factors such as latency, throughput, and power efficiency become increasingly important. Story Continues Through the Taalas acquisition, AMD has the opportunity to compete in an area where competition is less entrenched. The Bear Case: Execution Risk remains High While the Taalas acquisition may strengthen AMD's portfolio, AMD has neither disclosed the financial terms of the agreement or the revenue opportunity that comes from the acquisition. Investors will also need to judge its commercial impact, which can be done once the technology is integrated into AMD's broader product roadmap. Moreover, Taalas' biggest strength is also its biggest limitation. Taalas hardwires entire AI models directly into silicon instead of a general-purpose GPU, which means switching to a different model still requires making new chips. This could be a serious disadvantage in an industry where models evolve rapidly. Nvidia, meanwhile, has already incorporated technology from inference specialist Groq into its own AI roadmap. Hedge Fund Sentiment According to Insider Monkey Database, hedge fund interest in Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) remain strong. 134 hedge funds held stakes in AMD at the end of the first quarter of 2026, up from 132 in Q4 2025. Nvidia remained far more widely held, boasting 275 hedge funds, up from 264 in the previous quarter. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) has a short interest representing 2.5% of the public float, compar

Nokia’s (NOK) AI Network Bet Gets A Taiwan Proving Ground

Nokia (NYSE:NOK) has spent the past year rebuilding its story around AI, and earlier on July 14, it added another data point. The company signed a 5G expansion agreement with Taiwan Mobile to deploy its AirScale portfolio and AI-driven software across the carrier's network, part of a broader push toward what Nokia calls AI-native mobile infrastructure. The deal lands alongside a wave of insider stock purchases and a deepening Nvidia partnership, all pointing toward the same bet: that AI traffic is about to overwhelm the networks carrying it, and Nokia wants to be the company that fixes that.Nokia's (NOK) AI Network Bet Gets A Taiwan Proving Ground Bull Case: A Network Built To Carry AI, Not Just Phone Calls The Taiwan Mobile agreement is built around four distinct AI applications rather than a single upgrade. Nokia's AI for Network software, including its Predictive Hardware Analytics service and MantaRay SON self-organizing network tool, automates operations and enables closed-loop network assurance in real time. Separately, next-generation baseband and radio hardware increases capacity and uplink performance specifically to handle AI-driven traffic, while AI-powered energy management helps Taiwan Mobile hit its sustainability targets, and AI-enabled self-healing capabilities strengthen resilience during outages. Taken together, the deployment sets up support for 5G-Advanced features like network slicing and RedCap. That kind of upgrade is becoming urgent rather than optional. Generative AI traffic is already driving more than twice as much uplink data as ordinary mobile use, according to Aetha Consulting, and total network load could grow by as much as 10x current levels. Nokia has been building toward this since last October, when it began developing sixth-generation RAN technology, and in June it launched the industry's first commercial AI-RAN platform, offering 20% higher spectral efficiency than existing systems. Management expects that figure to reach 50% next year and 100% by 2028. The 6G equipment market alone is projected to exceed $50 billion by the first half of the 2030s, growing more than 20% annually, a meaningful expansion opportunity for a company that generated roughly $23 billion in revenue last year. Nokia is not building this alone. Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) committed a $1 billion equity investment at $6.01 per share back in October 2025, and Nokia's AI-RAN base stations now run on Nvidia GPUs, with Grace CPU Superchips handling higher-layer processing in Cloud RAN deployments. T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) has agreed to trial the designs starting in 2026. Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) is involved too, supplying PowerEdge servers for the computing backbone, fresh off a quarter where its AI server business grew 757% year over year. Story Continues Bear Case: Executives Are Buying, But So Is Some Doubt The clearest signal of internal confidence is who has been buying Nokia stock. Chief of staff Victoria Hanrahan purchased 44,682 shares in late May at an average price of about $15.81, a stake worth roughly $700,000. On July 24, senior manager Patrik Hammarén bought 43,293 shares in Helsinki near 8.44 euros, board member Timo Ihamuotila acquired 60,000 shares around 8.45 euros, and senior manager Pallavi Mahajan bought 62,000 shares on the NYSE near $9.55. Still, the stock has pulled back roughly 40% from its early June peak and sits nearly 30% below the analyst consensus price target of $12.81, suggesting the market is not yet fully convinced the AI-RAN transition will pay off as quickly as insiders seem to believe. The transformation itself is also a slow build. Full 6G connectivity is not expected until around 2030, meaning Nokia's AI story is as much a multi-year bet as it is a near-term catalyst. Where The Smart Money Is Positioned Hedge fund ownership jumped sharply, from 36 funds to 66 in the most recent quarter, a notable swing toward institutional conviction. Short interest is minimal at just 0.90% of

Firebird opens region’s largest AI Factory in Armenia, backed by Nvidia chipsets

Investing.com - U.S.-based AI cloud infrastructure provider Firebird officially launched the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region's largest AI Factory in Hrazdan, Armenia, on Saturday, marking the operational debut of a multi-billion-dollar global computing platform. The facility, powered by Nvidia Corp's accelerated computing, networking, and software stack, represents one of the largest AI infrastructure undertakings in Europe and frontier markets. Built using the Nvidia DSX platform alongside Dell Technologies' PowerEdge servers, the plant is designed to power large-scale AI training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads. The operational launch signals a strategic push by global hardware and cloud providers to establish high-density AI infrastructure outside traditional Western data center hubs. By embedding state-of-the-art chipsets in the South Caucasus, the project aims to tap regional energy capacity, bypass power grid bottlenecks facing Western markets, and establish Armenia as an emerging technological crossroads connecting regional and international developers. Firebird's flagship Armenian site begins operations with a phase powered by Nvidia B200 Blackwell GPUs, but the company has outlined an ambitious roadmap to scale its footprint significantly. The opening ceremony drew high-level political and industry representation, including Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Zhaslan Madiyev, and U.S. diplomats, underscoring the diplomatic weight behind the project. Nvidia also intends to make a direct investment in Firebird, joining existing strategic backers including CoreWeave. The Armenia facility will reserve a portion of its compute to foster local Armenian AI startups, university research, and government initiatives, while opening up to 90% of its total capacity to U.S. and global enterprises, including early customers like search engine maker Perplexity. Does Broadcom (AVGO) Now Lead The Biggest AI Infrastructure Spend Outside GPUs?

Get insights on thousands of stocks from the global community of over 7 million individual investors at Simply Wall St. Broadcom (NasdaqGS:AVGO) has become a dominant supplier for hyperscale AI clusters used by major cloud and AI providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Meta. Multi-year commitments from these customers are channeling significant capital expenditure into Broadcom's AI infrastructure hardware, even as some of that spend bypasses GPU market leader Nvidia. The agreements increase Broadcom's visibility on future AI related revenue tied to large scale data center buildouts. Broadcom is one of several companies involved in the buildout of AI infrastructure, so it is worth looking at a broader group of stocks exposed to this theme through 55 AI infrastructure stocksNasdaqGS:AVGO Earnings & Revenue Growth as at Aug 2026 Broadcom now sits at the centre of a wider shift in data centre spending, where large cloud providers are committing more capital to custom silicon and networking gear alongside GPUs. The stock price of US$427.76 comes after very strong multi year share price gains, including a 41.3% return over the past year and a return of more than 7x over five years, which signals how closely investors have tied Broadcom to the AI infrastructure theme. We've flagged 2 risks for Broadcom. See which could impact your investment. Does Broadcom's hyperscaler AI win deepen or just confirm the thesis? The core Broadcom Narrative is that the company is becoming essential infrastructure for AI compute and data movement, built on custom accelerators, high bandwidth networking and VMware based software. This hyperscaler AI capex news sits right inside that story rather than outside it. "Broadcom is experiencing accelerating demand for custom AI accelerators (XPUs) from hyperscale and large language model customers, underscored by the addition of a major fourth customer and a strengthened backlog..." Read the full Broadcom narrative to see the case behind these numbers This round of multi year commitments from Anthropic, OpenAI and Meta directly supports the Narrative's central catalyst. Broadcom is winning custom AI silicon and Ethernet switching inside the largest AI clusters, alongside Nvidia and against rivals such as AMD and Marvell. It reinforces the idea that AI centric semiconductors and networking are now the main engine of the business model. At the same time, it sharpens existing risks rather than removing them. The Narrative already flags heavy reliance on a small group of hyperscaler AI customers and stronger competition in custom XPUs and networking. Larger contracts increase revenue visibility, but also deepen that customer concentration and execution risk if any cloud provider insources or shifts to another supplier. Story Continues What this news does not address is whether weaker legacy segments and VMware integration challenges improve enough to deliver the diversification the thesis expects from software and non AI chips. Those areas still have to carry their weight if Broadcom is to look more like a balanced digital infrastructure platform and less like a pure AI customer proxy. Situational Awareness invested $500 million in chip startup Source Foundry

Investing.com -- Situational Awareness invested a total of $500 million in semiconductor manufacturing startup Source Foundry, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The hedge fund, founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, initially committed $100 million to the privately held company before making a further $400 million investment. The Wall Street Journal first identified Source Foundry as the recipient of the previously undisclosed investment. Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital backs the startup. Representatives for Situational Awareness and Source Foundry did not respond to requests for comment. Sequoia declined to confirm the hedge fund's investment. The additional funding was made days after Situational Awareness came close to collapsing at the end of July, when sharp declines in several of its publicly traded technology holdings triggered mounting collateral demands from banks. Aschenbrenner reached an agreement with Citadel founder Ken Griffin to sell part of the fund's public equity portfolio at a 10% discount as it sought to meet those demands. Source Foundry is seeking to develop a semiconductor manufacturing process that is simpler, less expensive and faster than current production methods. Its goal is to address the growing gap between demand for artificial intelligence computing power and the industry's ability to expand chipmaking capacity. "AI demand is growing on an exponential software curve, while semiconductor manufacturing capacity is growing on a linear industrial-equipment curve," Sequoia partner Stephanie Zhan said. Zhan described the mismatch as the "chip wall" and said Source Foundry planned to use different underlying physics to increase the speed and scale of semiconductor production. The large investment reflects continued demand for new chipmaking technologies as AI developers require increasing amounts of computing capacity. Still, the commitment also highlights the concentrated exposure taken by Situational Awareness shortly before volatility in its public technology holdings placed the fund under severe financial pressure. How the page works

How to read the score

The score shows direction

It describes the weighted balance of qualifying headlines. A score of 50 can mean balanced news or that there is not enough evidence; the status label explains which.

Confidence is separate

Confidence measures depth, source breadth, direct relevance, freshness and agreement. It does not rise merely because the tone is extreme.

Price is confirmation

Weekly price response, trend and fair-value position test whether the market is accepting or rejecting the news. They never rewrite the news score.

What the page does

It measures news already published. It is not a forecast, recommendation or price target.
