Why Tesla Doesn't Need to Win China's Brutal EV Price War
Tesla's TSLA July vehicle sales numbers in China point in opposite directions. Deliveries in the country fell nearly 33% year on year to 27,249 vehicles and 48.51% month over month, per CnEVPost. On the surface, it looks like the company is losing ground in the world's biggest electric vehicle (EV) market. But in the same month, exports from Tesla's Shanghai plant hit 66,330 units, up 143.24% year on year and 83.38% from June, a new monthly record beating the previous high set in October 2022. Combined, Tesla's Shanghai-made output— domestic sales plus exports— actually rose 37.8% year on year

Tesla Just Keeps Crashing: One of Wall Street’s Most Outspoken Names Sees 80% Gains Anyway
Quick Read Dan Ives assigns Tesla a $600 target by valuing it as an AI-robotics company, despite a 38% Q2 EPS miss and negative free cash flow. SpaceX Stock Jumps Again After Lock-Up Rally. When’s the Next Release, What to Expect.
SpaceX stock was jumping again in Monday’s premarket—on pace for its highest close for a month, after snapping a 4-week losing run on Friday with a 16% surge following the end of a lockup period for shares. The Elon Musk-led satellite and AI company’s shares were rising 4% to $138.57 as investors regained appetite for the stock after a torrid time since its closing high of $201.80 on June 16—reached two days after its IPO on June 12. Wall Street had widely braced for severe selling pressure on Thursday, when SpaceX’s first lockup expiration freed roughly 911 million restricted insider shares. Continue Reading

China Humanoid Makers Hold 97% of Global Shipments, Report Says
(Bloomberg) -- China's humanoid robot makers commanded more than 97% of global shipments in the first half of 2026, according to new industry data affirming the country's early lead against US rivals in the burgeoning field. The California-based research firm expects shipments to rise to around 60,000 units this year and reach half a million by 2030. Shanghai-based Agibot overtook Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics to claim the top spot in market share, capturing 44% of global shipments with 8,400 units in the six-month period, compared with Unitree's 5,900 units. Their volumes dwarf shipments from top US companies such as Tesla Inc., Figure AI Inc. and Agility Robotics Inc., underscoring the pace of development within China. In late July, the US banned imports of new Chinese humanoid and quadruped robots, along with certain components, citing national security and cybersecurity risks to critical US artificial intelligence infrastructure. Although the number of humanoid robots actually deployed in commercially productive roles remains small, China's policy support and funding from various levels of governments are helping accelerate their path into the mainstream. The prioritization of such robotics was on full display at the World AI Conference in Shanghai last month, where dozens of robot makers unveiled advances in dexterity, speed and capabilities. An important shift is also underway in how the robots are being used. "Industrial and commercial applications accounted for more than 70% of shipments, up from approximately 50% a year earlier," said Linda Sui, founder and principal researcher at SAG. Regulatory uncertainty and geopolitical risks could shape the industry's next phase of growth, Sui added. Explainer-What is Unitree and why are China’s humanoid robot makers racing to list?
By Eduardo Baptista BEIJING, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Chinese robot maker Unitree has priced its Shanghai initial public offering at 150.8 yuan per share, with subscriptions to start on Monday, as it seeks to raise 6.1 billion yuan ($904 million) in a deal that would see it become the first mainland-listed humanoid robot manufacturer. Below are some facts about Unitree, and why it is leading several Chinese robotics companies towards public listings. WHAT IS UNITREE? Founded in 2016 by engineer Wang Xingxing, Hangzhou-based Unitree first became known for relatively inexpensive quadruped robots — or robot dogs. Its G1, H1 and R1 humanoids have gone on to attract global attention through viral demonstrations showing them running, dancing and performing martial arts. The company competes with Tesla, Boston Dynamics and a growing field of Chinese startups seeking to build machines that can eventually work in factories and homes. Unitree's revenue rose more than fourfold to nearly 1.7 billion yuan in 2025. Unlike many humanoid startups, it is profitable, reporting adjusted net profit of about 600 million yuan. Its overseas revenue accounted for more than 40% of sales during each of the reporting periods disclosed in its prospectus. WHY IS UNITREE IMPORTANT? Unitree has shown that China can manufacture sophisticated robots at prices far below many overseas competitors, drawing on the country's extensive supply chains for motors, sensors, batteries and other components. It has also become a symbol of Beijing's drive to dominate embodied intelligence, an emerging field that combines AI models with machines capable of navigating and interacting with the physical world. But its commercial success does not yet prove humanoids can replace workers. Current demand mostly stems from universities and government-backed projects using robots for education, research and demonstrations. Humanoids still struggle with reliability, dexterity and performing varied tasks for long periods without human intervention. WHY ARE ROBOT MAKERS SEEKING LISTINGS? Developing humanoids requires heavy spending on engineers, robot-training data, AI models and manufacturing capacity — years before demand from factories or households is certain. Therefore, public markets offer companies the capital to keep developing their technology while government support and investor interest remain strong. Leju Robotics, which makes the Kuavo humanoid, filed an application in May to list on Shenzhen's ChiNext market. Shanghai-based AgiBot, another leading humanoid producer, began preparations for a Hong Kong IPO in July. (Reporting by Eduardo Baptista; Editing by Kevin Buckland) View Comments

Kevin O'Leary Sat Out SpaceX's IPO— Now He's Plotting His Entry as Elon Musk's Empire Takes Shape: 'As the Stock Settles... I'll Be Watching Closely...'
Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. Investor and television personality Kevin O'Leary said he may begin buying SpaceX shares once post-IPO volatility settles, arguing that the bigger long-term opportunity lies in Elon Musk potentially connecting SpaceX with Tesla Inc., artificial intelligence, robotics and autonomous driving. O'Leary Eyes Entry After IPO Volatility "I passed on my IPO allocation because liquidity matters to me. But as the stock settles over the next 30 to 60 days, I'll be watching closely, and I may start building a position," O'Leary said on X. He identified $100 to $110 as a range where volatility could clear. Don't Miss: A single bad hire can set a startup back years. Previous reporting highlighted Tesla-SpaceX merger speculation, while O'Leary has urged investors to own SpaceX, OpenAI and Anthropic rather than pick one winner. SpaceX Earnings Strengthen Long-Term Bull Case SpaceX's first public earnings report gave bulls fresh data. Second-quarter revenue jumped 92% to $7.8 billion, beating the $6.9 billion consensus estimate, while its loss of 9 cents per share beat expectations for a 26-cent loss. Analysts praised the growth while flagging execution risk. RBC Capital Markets analyst Ken Herbert called the results "positive," saying SpaceX beat expectations. Zacks strategist Brian Mulberry called AI monetization a "tremendous upside surprise," according to Reuters. Jim Cramer Is Telling Investors to Accumulate SpaceX for the Long Term
During CNBC's Mad Money episode aired on August 5, Jim Cramer addressed investor concerns surrounding Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) and its immense capital requirements. Explaining why he remains bullish on SpaceX's long-term trajectory despite the massive expenditures involved, Cramer stated: I want to take this moment to explain why the stock might be valuable years down the road. Again, with the caveat that I don't know how many years or even which road, but you know what? It doesn't matter. I'm not being facetious here. This is Elon Musk we're talking about, quite possibly the greatest business person of our time. Because of his success with Tesla, he's been able to raise all the money he needs to get the job done. So even as skeptics may blanch about the long-term viability of a company with so much mammoth ambitions that need so much cash, I want to tack the other way and say that Musk will never have trouble raising money. He easily raised $44 billion to buy the money-losing Twitter, for heaven's sake. So I bet he'll have no problem raising a couple hundred billion dollars here or maybe a few hundred billion dollars there, or possibly much more once SpaceX has a line of sight to profitability. He has that many acolytes, that many true believers, many of whom have enough money to help his cause. As long as he's there, I think this one's good to go, which is one of the reasons I like the story.Jim Cramer Is Telling Investors to Accumulate SpaceX for the Long Term Orbital Computing and Starlink Cramer also highlighted the Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s (NASDAQ:SPCX) dominance in launch capacity, as he noted that its Falcon class delivers roughly 2,500 tons to orbit annually, representing 80% to 90% of Earth's total payload volume. He pointed to Musk's plans for Starship to scale capacity to millions of tons, enabling long-range initiatives like orbital data centers powered by solar energy and natural space cooling, which is an idea conceptually endorsed by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang. In the near term, Cramer emphasized Starlink as the commercial engine funding these long-range projects. Operating in 167 global markets, Starlink added 1.7 million subscribers in a single quarter, with President and COO Gwynne Shotwell anticipating continued market share gains from legacy telecom carriers. Cramer compared SpaceX to a 100-year railroad bond, and framed it as a generational holding for patient investors looking past short-term lockup expirations toward multi-decade upside. Unmatched Access to Private Capital Story Continues The development of Starship launch systems and satellite networks requires tens of billions in recurring investment. While heavy capital needs strain traditional aerospace balance sheets, Cramer noted that Musk's track record gives SpaceX an unprecedented capital runway. With the company's public market valuation hovering around $1.7 trillion, its history of strong private-market backing, and Musk's ability to mobilize market liquidity, SpaceX ensures funding channels remain wide open as the enterprise scales. Rivian's make-or-break R2 midsize EV delivers: Road test
The Rivian R2 is, frankly, the most important vehicle Rivian (RIVN) has ever built. It's the car that's supposed to push Rivian over the edge on cost, scale, and, importantly, profits. Rivian's first-gen R1S and R1T EVs earned acclaim but bled money at their high price points. The R2 is Rivian's answer: a midsize electric SUV built on a platform using a cheaper bill of materials, aimed squarely at the Tesla (TSLA) Model Y, and priced to move volume — $61,000 in test-car trim and as low as $45,000 for the base model coming next year. The R2 is make-or-break for California-based Rivian. But after a few days behind the wheel of the Performance model, the verdict is clear: The company nailed it. The R2 lookThe Rivian R2.·Rivian The R2's styling is familiar, in the best way. The cube-like, squared-off design that people love in the R1 carries over, but the R2 just looks better. Maybe it's the smaller footprint, shorter rear hatch, and tighter proportions that give it a cleaner, more coherent stance than the larger R1S. And the interior makes you feel right at home. Anyone who's sat in an R1 will recognize the layout — crisp, high-resolution screens for both infotainment and the driver cluster. But the fit and finish definitely punches above its weight. This is a $60,000-ish car, not Mercedes or BMW money, yet it feels premium. Special touches include soft-touch materials, real stitching, an interesting denim-like fabric across the dash, nice switchgear, and a key fob that doubles as a durable carabiner. Storage is excellent, down to a pull-out tray in the center console sized for a tissue box.The Rivian R2's bright and clear infotainment screen.·Rivian The back seat is a highlight. Without the R1's third row eating into legroom, the R2's second row gets more foot space and stretch-out room. The cargo hatch is spacious, the panoramic glass roof is expansive, and the whole cabin is remarkably quiet. Driving around New York City — bumps, ruts, sirens, chaos — the R2 remains serene inside. R2 on the roadThe Rivian R2.·Rivian The R2 in Performance trim means dual motors making 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-to-60 time Rivian measured at blistering 3.6 seconds — that's Porsche 911 territory. The power is immediate, smooth, and effortless. But the suspension is the star. This isn't air suspension — it's semiactive adaptive damping, and you can dial it through the drive modes. I left it in the softest comfort setting and never looked back. The car rides beautifully — planted, well-damped, no excessive body roll, no wafting or wallow. It turns in cleanly and stays composed. Over broken pavement, it absorbs the hit and moves on rather than bouncing you down the road. Story Continues The Rivian R2.·Rivian Compared to the more off-road-focused R1S, which trades some on-road polish for suspension travel, the R2 just feels dialed in for the real world. For city driving and cracked, buckled streets, I can't praise the ride enough. Drive modes span Sport, Rally, Snow, and Soft Sand if you do want to go off-pavement. On regen braking — where, when off the accelerator, the motors regenerate power — I preferred standard and low. High regen is a bit much — stop-and-start unless you're careful with pedal modulation. Range is EPA-rated at 330 miles from the 88-kWh battery, with 105 MPGe combined. Real-world figures land closer to 250 to 300 miles, depending on highway speed and temperature. The NACS port opens up Tesla's Supercharger network and can charge 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes on DC fast charging. The Rivian R2.·Rivian But it's not all sunshine and electric vibes. No Apple CarPlay is a real downer. Rivian, like Tesla, wants to control the software experience from end to end. You get built-in Google Maps, native Spotify and Apple Music, but no Waze — so no crowdsourced red light, speed camera, or police alerts. And Bluetooth phone integration is clunky. Making calls, asking Siri something, or replying to a text is a more co

What Does Intel (INTC) Gain From Its Texas Chip Facility Joint Venture?
Track your investments for FREE with Simply Wall St, the portfolio command center trusted by over 7 million individual investors worldwide. Intel (NasdaqGS: INTC) announces a joint venture with SpaceX and Tesla to build a semiconductor fabrication facility in Texas as part of the Terafab project. The Terafab facility is intended to support chips for next generation robotics and autonomous vehicle platforms used by SpaceX and Tesla. The partnership highlights efforts by the companies to tighten control over chip supply for AI hardware and advanced manufacturing in North America. The announcement positions Intel as a key foundry partner for high profile industrial and automotive applications that rely on custom silicon. Consider reviewing other stocks tied to AI infrastructure and advanced chip manufacturing through 55 AI infrastructure stocksNasdaqGS:INTC Earnings & Revenue Growth as at Aug 2026 Intel sits at the center of the global chip industry and has become a closely watched AI hardware stock, with the share price at $101.65 and a return of 158.1% year to date. The stock has been volatile in the near term, including a 12.7% gain over the past week and a 7.8% decline over the past month, which underlines how sensitive sentiment is around its growth plans and capital projects. Beyond the headline: 3 risks and 1 thing going right for Intel that every investor should see. What actually changes for Intel with the Terafab partnership? Terafab gives Intel a direct role inside the chip supply chain for Tesla vehicles and SpaceX robotics rather than just being an outside supplier. Intel is positioned as the foundry partner for custom silicon tied to Optimus robots, Cybercabs and other automation projects. That fits the existing Narrative that Intel wants more external foundry volume and deeper AI hardware relationships. The key detail is that the current framework is non binding, so the value for Intel depends on how many concrete chip programs and wafers are eventually routed through this Texas facility. How does this fit Intel's push into AI and foundry services? For readers tracking Intel's AI and foundry story, Terafab lines up with several recent moves. Intel has been signing advanced packaging and foundry agreements with large technology groups while also joining ecosystem efforts like OCUDU and partnering with mimik Technology on AI PCs. Adding SpaceX and Tesla as joint venture partners reinforces the idea that Intel wants to be seen as a trusted manufacturing and packaging platform for high profile AI and automation workloads, not just a CPU vendor. Story Continues What is the one thing to watch next on Terafab? The clearest proof point to watch is whether Intel discloses binding wafer volume or long term chip supply agreements tied specifically to Terafab over the next 12 to 18 months. If Tesla or SpaceX confirm that a meaningful share of their autonomous driving or robotics chips will be fabricated at the Texas facility, it would support the view that this joint venture strengthens Intel's foundry Narrative. If the project stays at framework stage with limited committed volumes, it would weaken that read. For the full picture including more risks and rewards, check out the complete Intel analysis. How the page works
How to read the score
It describes the weighted balance of qualifying headlines. A score of 50 can mean balanced news or that there is not enough evidence; the status label explains which.
Confidence measures depth, source breadth, direct relevance, freshness and agreement. It does not rise merely because the tone is extreme.
Weekly price response, trend and fair-value position test whether the market is accepting or rejecting the news. They never rewrite the news score.
It measures news already published. It is not a forecast, recommendation or price target.
